One of the seven buildings selected for renovation as part of the UBC Renew Project, in partnership with the Province of British Columbia. The 63,000 ft² building spread over 4 floors is home to the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and the School of Audiology; containing teaching and research labs and office space for the users. Both the teaching and research labs have integrated lighting audio-visual presentation systems and high device density for power and tel/data outlets. Electrical rough-in and finishes required a high level of coordination to accommodate the building’s low ceilings and wood panel finish.
The General Contractor was Ledcor Construction with MCW being the Electrical Engineer. Interior demolition started in the fall of 2006. Asbestos abatement and seismic upgrades completed in the summer of 2007. Final completion was in the fall of 2008.
