MNP Tower (1021 West Hastings) is a triple A office building located in the harbour district of Vancouver’s business core. The tower has 33 typical office floors and sits on a four level parkade that is continuous under Guinness Tower. At time of construction MNP tower was the sixth tallest building in the city at 470’ (143M).
The technical challenges of the project started immediately with the reconfiguration of the Guinness Tower parkade for two way traffic. Once complete the parkade would be partially demolished to make room for the expansion of MNP Tower and the new parkade structure. Our team had no small challenge in reconfiguring the electrical system of a 40+ year old building without interruption to the active parkade. Our team rose to the challenge and completed the work without issue.
By project completion more than four years later, the project team would successfully provide a high voltage service from Guinness Tower, integrate fire alarm communication between Guinness Tower, MNP Tower, and Marine Building, incorporate an LED exterior lighting package, and complete three phased occupancies.
