Vancouver Centre II is an iconic amenity-rich 34-storey office tower delivered using a design-assist subcontract. The new downtown tower ties into the existing Vancouver Centre via a grand atrium with a stunning suspended salmon sculpture. It boasts modern technologies such as DALI and DMX lighting controls, massive TV walls in the main lobbies, custom luminaires to meet LEED and WELL building standards, and a Giacomini radiant ceiling heating/cooling system. The electrical systems tie in to a Smart Building app for tenants. Large amenity spaces include a lounge, a rooftop deck with panoramic views, change rooms, and a fitness centre.
This 679,000 square foot project provided many challenges that were met with impressive solutions:
-Demolition of a parkade
-Work within the existing occupied Vancouver Centre I building and mall while building the new tower
-Dual ended 2.5MVA unit substation
-2 x 800kW generators
-Level 2 EV chargers
-Innovative approach to the electrical systems (DALI/DMX controls, wired/wireless controls, digital metering)
-Outstanding exterior LED lighting including a “heartbeat” feature light that runs 340’ up to the roof and back down, and along the entire VCI and VCII canopy sending a colour changing DMX pulse or other pre-programmed scene across the lights
-Designed to achieve LEED Platinum, WELL Gold, and WiredScore Gold
